Have I mentioned how much I love my job lately?! Couples like Katy and Chase (and their sweet pup Gypsy!) just really drive that point home for me… I’m so fortunate to connect with people who really get what life is about and don’t fret over the surface stuff.
When these two emailed me about documenting their wedding here in Seattle next summer, I was over the moon. The vision they have for their big day is going to be absolutely spectacular! When they mentioned that they’d be having a reception in New York next fall as well?! Thats when I knew the stars were completely in line and connecting with them was total kismet. I even had a trip back to the city lined up a few weeks after we “met” over FaceTime that provided the PERFECT chance for an engagement session in one of three favorite places – the grounds of Mohonk Mountain House.
You. Guys. This place is like something out of a fairytale, and truly matches their quirky and beautiful souls. We had so much fun roaming and exploring together with that sweet furry friend in tow. It all went by so quickly, and I can’t wait to hang out with them again next year for two whole days of excitement and celebration!
My family has known Zoe since she was three years old, and when she and Moshik met we were living together in the middle of NYC. Everybody knew from the start that these two were the perfect fit – it was just a matter of time before they made it official. The two celebrated their sixth anniversary in the midst of a whirlwind trip with eleven of Zoe’s friends and family to Moshik’s homeland in the week leading up to their wedding. As a group, we spent nine days in Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea, and Jerusalem getting to know Moshik’s amazingly generous family, eating a lot of remarkable hummus, and seeing some of the most spectacular and historical places known to man.
Nestled in the foothills of Jerusalem, the restaurant Pichonka provided the perfect setting for a traditional Jewish ceremony under a custom chuppah. Zoe wore the perfect gown from Reformation Bridal, and Moshik was dashing in his tailored Ludlow Suit from J.Crew. There aren’t enough words to describe how incredible the trip as a whole was, and the images from their wedding will forever be some of my favorite photographs.
Alexis and Luke are two of the loveliest people on this planet – and they have a sweet baby girl on the way. When I was in New York last month I knew we had to catch up (I did an at-home engagement session for them two years ago!) and celebrate this new adventure they’re on. Their light and goofy spirits are infectious! We stopped by the New Allen mural in Greenwich Village and wandered our way through the streets to The Highline for a scoop of strawberry ice cream, and it made for the perfect evening.
Whitney and Jared are a special kind of couple. They’re the sort of lovebirds that anybody planning a wedding aspires to be – so insanely in love with each other that their smiles light up the entire room and at the end of the day the only thing that mattered to either of them was marrying their person. And they did just that at the very upstate New York AirBNB on a sleepy road in Ithaca where Jared got down on one knee.
I do a lot of destination weddings outside of Seattle, and it’s always exciting to work with incredible vendors in new locations. The ladies at Miel Beauty Bar helped Whitney put her best face forward and the team at Plenty of Posies outdid themselves with the gorgeous floral arrangements. Their families came together and poured so much love into every detail of the day, while Rachel of Iron Owl Kitchen made sure things went off without a hitch. Whitney was a vision in a flawless Zac Posen gown (with a custom raw quartz sash by Helena Noelle Couture adding the perfect bit of sparkle) and Jared looked like he’d waltzed off the cover of GQ in his perfect navy suit. I’m so proud of these images, and hope you enjoy reliving their day through my eyes as much as I have!
