Raise your hand if you remember Chelsea and Will’s RAD maternity session from last summer! You know the one… Pool floaties, Hawaiian shirts, tattoos, and bikinis?! (If you need a refresher course, check it out here!!) Now fast forward almost exactly one year. Their kiddo Winston is nine months old, and already way cooler than I am. Chelsea wanted to pay homage to the shoot we put together last year with an updated family session in their gorgeous Seattle home, and I love each of these frames more than the last.
Alexis and Luke are two of the loveliest people on this planet – and they have a sweet baby girl on the way. When I was in New York last month I knew we had to catch up (I did an at-home engagement session for them two years ago!) and celebrate this new adventure they’re on. Their light and goofy spirits are infectious! We stopped by the New Allen mural in Greenwich Village and wandered our way through the streets to The Highline for a scoop of strawberry ice cream, and it made for the perfect evening.
If I wasn’t in awe of what women are capable of before Finn was born last week, I am now. I don’t quite know how to put into words what the experience of being beside my best friend while she labored for 27 hours (!!!) to bring her first baby into this world was like. It was all at once amazing, horrifying, inspiring, delightful, miraculous, overwhelming, heartbreaking, beautiful, and empowering. Watching her in such a warrior-esque state was life changing. The moment this family became three the whole world changed.
I am thrilled to announce that I am now offering birth story sessions in the greater Seattle area. If you or someone you know is expecting, please be in touch. I would love to meet you and talk about how this is one of the most lasting impressions you’ll have to carry with you after the long and incredibly monumental process of labor and delivery is over.
There’s something so very sweet about mamas and their babes. There is something even sweeter about mamas and their babes when they step out from behind their own cameras and in front of someone else’s. My girl Dannie of Abeille Photography is one of the kindest and most giving souls I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, and she trusted me with these moments between her youngest and herself last month. It was the sweetest half hour, and would have been so even without the donuts!
It’s not a secret that I’m a really loud cheerleader for lady bosses. Women who take on the challenges of running a business, owning a company, creating a product, having a family… Ladies who get up and get things done. So naturally, my girl Lauren at Flying Anchor Event Design deserves the credit for connecting me with Jane and her family. I’m a total Julep fangirl, and having the chance to meet the family that created such a powerful and spectacular beauty brand was a major highlight in my year. These women have beautiful families and killer businesses under their belts. Total squad goals.
Last month I went on an adventure with Jessika and Joe, along with their sweet pups Luna and Taco. The super sneaky mission? Capturing this chapter of their journey to parenthood before their surprise announcement to their friends and family on New Years Eve! It was so much fun to play in the snow and romp around with the dogs for an afternoon. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I can share some of my favorite frames from our beautiful afternoon. Enjoy!
In-home sessions are an absolute favorite of mine. I love meeting people exactly where they’re at, and celebrating their comfort zone will never get old. Engagements, families, newborns… You name it and it’s even better at home. Plus, the amount of sweet this family contains can’t be measured. I mean – those smiling little faces! All the heart eyes.
If you want your own session in time to get holiday cards out to your loved ones, I have a few spots left for these home based minis. Drop and line and we’ll chat!
This month I’ve been so fortunate to reconnect with past clients and their loved ones to capture a few group memories. It was especially fun doing these grown up family portraits for Vivian and Tanner since we’d been talking about them even before their wedding this summer! I took the ferry to Vashon Island the day after Thanksgiving, and followed them around some of their favorite local haunts. It was a beautiful day, and such an awesome chance to slow down a bit while hanging out with these two and their family again.
It really, really feels like November in Seattle right now. Typically this time of year means more time for reflection and staying warm and dry at my desk. Fortunately, this month, I’ve been hanging out with awesome folks like Jana and Ryan who trust me with their most special memories come rain or (less likely) shine! It was a super chilly and drizzly afternoon when we met at Clark Lake Park for their engagement session. We soaked up the last bit of color the leaves had to offer, and packed it in before we got too soaked ourselves. They were troopers – the boys too!
