Spring is one of my favorite times of year for a number of reasons, but primarily because it’s the ultimate time for engagement sessions! If running around Discovery Park soaking up the sunshine isn’t one of the best ways to come out of hibernation I don’t know what is… Tessina and Jim get married next month and my girl Lauren at Flying Anchor Event Design is helping them plan their big day. You guys aren’t ready to handle the level of whimsy and personality that’s about to go down… Just. You. Wait!
These two beautiful human beings are getting married later this summer on the Olympic Peninsula, and they wanted to highlight their love for the mountains surrounding us with their engagement photos. Unfortunately Osbaldo and Dennis were forced to reschedule their engagement session in the Cascade Mountains when it snowed on us here in Seattle last month. Very rarely do I have to reschedule a session because of weather, but this time it was pretty non-negotiable. Because we were forced to move their session a little further out than we’d wanted to due to crazy schedules, I have never been more excited to wake up and see a spectacular amount of sunshine pouring in the window than I was last weekend. We won the weather lottery, and the sun poured down on us all afternoon while we adventured to the small town of Index nestled in the heart of the Cascade Mountains.
Have I mentioned how much I love my job lately?! Couples like Katy and Chase (and their sweet pup Gypsy!) just really drive that point home for me… I’m so fortunate to connect with people who really get what life is about and don’t fret over the surface stuff.
When these two emailed me about documenting their wedding here in Seattle next summer, I was over the moon. The vision they have for their big day is going to be absolutely spectacular! When they mentioned that they’d be having a reception in New York next fall as well?! Thats when I knew the stars were completely in line and connecting with them was total kismet. I even had a trip back to the city lined up a few weeks after we “met” over FaceTime that provided the PERFECT chance for an engagement session in one of three favorite places – the grounds of Mohonk Mountain House.
You. Guys. This place is like something out of a fairytale, and truly matches their quirky and beautiful souls. We had so much fun roaming and exploring together with that sweet furry friend in tow. It all went by so quickly, and I can’t wait to hang out with them again next year for two whole days of excitement and celebration!
Emily is my kind of lady. She has two of the coolest kitties ever, and she’s shameless about her proud cat mom status. Ryan loves her and those critters, which makes him pretty cool in my book too! We took advantage of the rare spot of Seattle sunshine earlier this month and shared a lot of laughs over the course of their engagement session at Discovery Park. They have a beautiful wedding planned later this summer, and I cannot wait to see the big day unfold!
It really, really feels like November in Seattle right now. Typically this time of year means more time for reflection and staying warm and dry at my desk. Fortunately, this month, I’ve been hanging out with awesome folks like Jana and Ryan who trust me with their most special memories come rain or (less likely) shine! It was a super chilly and drizzly afternoon when we met at Clark Lake Park for their engagement session. We soaked up the last bit of color the leaves had to offer, and packed it in before we got too soaked ourselves. They were troopers – the boys too!
These two. These two! When I sat down to coffee with Brittany and Sean earlier in the year, I knew we’d be fast friends. They’re two of the kindest and most beautiful souls in the world, and I am thrilled that they chose me to be a part of their love story. As east coast transplants living in Seattle, they have a really spectacular and personal wedding in the works for next summer. I cannot wait to see how it unfolds! In the meantime, their sweet engagement photos will have to hold us all over. Enjoy!
Katie and Sam are getting married next July at Georgetown Ballroom, and it’s going to be one for the books. When I met them earlier this summer, they explained how important their neighborhoods have been in shaping their identity as individuals and as a couple. She grew up just down the street from the ballroom, and when they asked how I’d feel about doing engagement photos at their favorite cafe near their home in West Seattle (the perfectly quirky Luna Park Cafe) I knew my answer had to be a big loud “YES!” The folks at Luna Park were just as excited to have us as we were to be there, and they made the most picturesque milkshake and sword fight french-fries ever. These two are a blast, and I can’t wait to be a part of their big day next summer!
